I used to have one of these and averaged around 28mpg commuting mainly on the M40 and some town driving too - worst low twenties, best mid 30s on a run. Great engine - nice balance between performance and economy

My 130i is a 57 plate, last reset the MPG computer about 2000 miles ago when I bought the car. According to the trip computer I am currently averaging 33.2mpg, was 34mpg last week but I had a rather brisk 200 mile run yesterday which has dented the average a little.

On a long motorway run you should be able to just about squeeze 400 miles out of a tankful of petrol, I would say.

Just do a lot of motorway miles at rush hour, so 60-70 MPH on a light throttle.

Open it up on the B roads a bit mind you!

31mpg from our pre facelift 130i over 15k miles / 18 months. Gets used properly with full use of the available performance, although does a fair bit of motorway miles and little town work.

Averaging 31.5mpg (calculated) in 4000 miles since getting the car. Get an easy 34mpg on M'way at 75-80, but town driving does drag it down.
