I currently have a Peugeot 206 GTi - and I HATE the thing! I'm quickly coming to realise that try as I might, I'm never going to like front wheel drive so why bother trying?
So I'm going to look for a BMW, got my eye on a compact, around 1999-2001, price between about £1500 and £2000. Am I being realistic?
It's not going to do a high mileage as I'm not working currently and have probably only done about 2000 miles in the last year. Obviously my first move on obtaining gainful employment would be to upgrade to something a bit newer (another Beemer naturally).
Thoughts/sdvice, anybody?

yea getting a 3 series compact at that sort of price is realistic imo.i just paid 1650 for a 2000 plate e46 saloon with 84k on the clock.there are some good ones out there you just have to look around for them.bmws however are quite expensive to run and maintain and insurance is quite expensive too but if you love driving a good car its worth the extra money imo.

good luck mate

To be honest, that's a bit of a strange question as basically you're asking:

Can a 10/11 year old BMW be used daily?, as if they are renowned for being unreliable.

Take a look at traffic out and about and see how many X, Y, 01 etc., registered BMW's are on the road (for that matter there are still plenty of N, M, P, R, S, T, W and older registered BMW's being used every day too!).
