Kenya, new year ?

Never been, looking to leave after Christams and be settled in for new year, normally do Dominican republic or Mexico over new year but fancy a change me, swimbo and 9 year old daughter, we like a lazy beech holiday, but from what I hear we should do a short safari also ?

Recommendations, must do, must not do ? max budget £5k.
