I know its called liquid gold, but since when as it cost the same?
Just got the bill from the garage, £200 for labour which is fair and as expected, but £100 for oil....!
Bill says 7L of Shell Helix, so what's a cheaper alternative for next time? Garage has already admitted if it was a land rover with the V8 the oil would have been cheaper, so why does the book recommend an expensive oil for a TVR and does it make that much difference?

Your right Mr Grimshaw, (name reminds me of Norman Wisdom) SC oil is expensive but its developed to generate the 300+++++++ hp your getting from the Chim 4.0. Seriously, it is a lot, but the SC lubrication ia 'no loss' system and it should not need any more the a few ml top up ocassionally, the full system of 1 litre of oil being replaced after 2 or 3 years. In the search for that power hike that puts a smile on your face, its not bad value. Hope your having fun and enjoying yourself.
Regarding engine oil, 5 litre of good qualty engine oil retails now for about £60 equating to around £85 for oil and filter every 6000 miles. From the bills I see its generally a little under £100.
