Personal recommendation.
Recently purchased a 997 C2 from Autobahn. Have bought lots of prestige cars from lots of places over the years, found dealing with Autobahn exceptionally good.
As with most smart outfits I expected them to be pretty hot on customer service, which they were, but what I wasn't expecting was for them to be so good on price too.
Found the staff very knowledgeable, very polite, and they never tried the hard sell.
I popped in to have a look at their stock a few weeks ago, ended up taking a C2S out on a test drive, and gave them a pretty optimistic wish list, with a firm budget. I've been looking at 997's for months so knew what you got for your money, and figured that since Autobahn put a 12,000 mile / 12 month in house comprehensive warranty as well as 12 month break down cover and all the other usual prestige dealer services, they would be completely uncompetitive on price. As it happens within hours I'd had a call from them telling me a recent customer of PCT who'd just serviced his 997 was selling his car, and that it fitted the criteria on my list, had actually got significantly lower miles than any other cars I had looked at, and they could offer all the standard Autobahn dealer services within my strict price range. Further more when I went to look at the car, I persuaded them to fit a new windscreen as there were a couple of chips, new rear tires, and re-furb the wheels, they agreed to all the work without a flinch.
The result, earlier this week I drove home in my ideal 997, with all minor snags sorted, knowing it was covered by a great warrantee for a price I was very very happy with!
The week they offered me the car, the cheapest 997 on Auto-trader was only 2K cheaper and it had 20K more miles on it. I couldn't be happier, both with the car, and the superb attention to detail and efficiency of the dealer.
As I say, had lots of experience with car dealers over the years, this one stood out as particularly good.
Highly recommend Autobahn - they're on the A45 near Coventry, have a look for yourself.

Interestingly, I've heard nothing but negative feedback from friends and acquaintences who have been in the market for a Porsche and have visited Autobahn during their search. Good to get a positive story for a change. They must be doing something right to have the premises they do, mind you!

I bought my 996 C2 from them just under 2yrs ago, as I'm in Devon we did the deal including PXing my Mk5 Golf GTi over the phone. In the 12mth warranty period it had all 6 coil packs replaced, they arranged for the work to be carried out by a specialist local to me & settled the bill direct with them.But at £55k, i was thinking it may be worth spending the extra & going OPC.
Anyone have cause to call on their in house warranty (sorry question mark key not working again!)
If I am ever looking for another Porsche I would have no problem returning to them.

Had A Boxster from them a few years back..... Great sales guy (Mike) Awful aftersales service. Car got damaged on two visits back to them. wouldn't let them near my new baby!!!!
Mike (Piddey) has since left the company, he sold me my car, I used an indie in Halesowen and was totally shocked to find that their main tecchy wasn't allowed to drive customer cars ie road test them, I said "I bet you love the road tests" and he said I've never driven one on the road!!! They were 2 separate businesses - the owners of Autobahn (the sales business) sold out/retired just under 2 years ago, PCT (the servicing garage) took over - sounds like they're not as well capitalized, which is not a criticism but may explain what you've noticed.thegoose said:

PCT, used to be the 1st OPC midlands. Known these guys for 30 years.....service wise they will be fine. not to sure on the new stuff, but the out warranty stuff they will be fine.

As posted above, the workshop guys took over the car sales side of the business. They are aiming for a more specialized niche with air cooled cars and older vehicles. The previous owners, Autobahn were selling new vehicles and competing with the official main dealer network.

I went to them just after they moved to their current location. - was looking for my first Porsche at the time. Was treated like something that they'd stepped in.... needless to say I went elsewhere. Went back 12-18 months ago to look at the 996RS that they had ( think there was a thread about it... ) Anyway.. Couldn't have been more different to the first experience. The PCT outfit look like they have fixed the attitude problems that some people encountered with Autobahn.

Not sure about that, as I read it looks like a 6 months warranty. As echoed in here only ever heard good about PCT and as they now own the sales operation it can't be a bad thing.Everyone has there own personal opinion........ maybe they have bucked their ideas up since going alone as pct..... I made a comment about the amount of scuff marks on the plastics they left as they were getting in and out of my 2005 boxster s when it was in for repair...... there reply was that none of there mechanics were under 6 feet tall!!!! priceless!!
