Looking for a coffee machine for the new house, has to be up to the budget of 1K however if people can recommend a cheaper one thats better fair play.
Versatility is key really here, I want the ability to make espresso/latte/cappacino/americano.

I was also wondering whether the PH massive thought it better a bean to cup or freshly ground coffee. Having had both before and calling myself a coffee officianodo i've never been able to taste the difference.

The amount it will be used rules out any of these pod machines and the final limitation is that i'd like it too look quite impressive (private unseen competition between friends).

Any help greatly appreciated!

Do you want free standing or built in?

We have a couple of the Gaggia Synchrony things. One , the older model has been used in our shop for over 12 years [ 11,000 ] cups to date and has been back for a new pump and service in that time. Cost £100.00 [ for the service ]

The other is the later stainless steel model which is at home. To date no problems with that one and we've had that 4 years.

Not sure re built in models. The above are both bean to cup but a bit fiddly to use the steam function for frothy options!

Heres the range. Only slight issue is that GAGGIA UK are now run by Phillips. Th eservice we had took an age but hopefully you wont need to use it

Quite liking the look of that albeit slightly out of budget one!

Any other brands making good machines, my only qualm with Gaggia is that the machines are known to need quite a lot of maintenance.

EDIT: just found this one seems to tick all the boxes, any good?

I bought a Siemens bean to cup machine at The beginning of the year, has been great so far. Brew count is currently standing at 938 in just over 5 months. Only downside is that it has a built in water filter which so far I have had to replace every month at £14 a time, but I guess it helps with protecting the internals.

Think I'm going to order it, comet has it with 5 year warranty for £940, seems worth it.
Can you not bulk buy the filters for cheaper? I do drink A LOT of coffee.

Haven't found anywhere yet that sells in bulk. I tend to order 6 at a time from Siemens. If you do find a supplier I would be very interested.

Wow £1000 for a coffee machine at home! I love proper black coffee but you can make really good coffee without a machine that costs a grand.

Slightly off topic! does a £1000 coffee machine make better coffee than a £100 coffee machine? reason I ask is I quite fancy my own coffee machine but probably gona go fiat rather than ferrari!

Still won't make better coffee than a 20 quid stovetop pot.

I have a variety of coffee machines, including 3 stovetop pots, the Siemens makes the best coffee.

Just buy a £50 one and stick a good brandy in it.

Is it really going to taste better because the machine you make it with costs a £1000 ?

genuine question , no really !
