oil levels???????
Discussion
HI,
My t350t was serviced a month or so ago, i have just checked the oil levels after doing 50 miles since the service to find at an engine temp of 20 degrees it reads minimum.
i have heard several opinions on oil levels but can someone tell me what is the best oil temp to check the oil at and where should it read?
On the same subject, i was told by the previous owner to use a 0/40w diesel oil as a top up, once again i have no idea, so would be grateful for opinions?

Check the oil at full running temperature, at least 65 degrees. Also you need to check it as soon as you stop the engine, best way is to lift bonnet with the engine running, level surface of course, turn engine off and immediately check it. If you leave it even 30 secs the level will drop and you will not get the correct reading.
I only ever use 10/40 semi in mine, do a search or try the opie oils thread.

Needs to be checked at opperating temp so 65deg+. Also within 30 secs of switching off the engine or the oil runs back out of the tank. I would not mix oils, use the oil grade that was put in on the service. I run Mobil super 3000 5w-40. 0w-40w oils tent to need topping up more as they are thinner.
If your car has had a rebuid, check the type & grade you should be using as it will impact on the warrenty
