burglar alarm motion sensor, moving extending the wiring,

Hi i need to drop a motion sensor on a wall about 5inches to make way for some plaster coving thats going in thursday. i have some cable that the alarm guy left a couple of years back , iwas thinking if there isnt enough in the the actual sensor coiled up i reckon it could be extend by splicing another bit of wire in there.

If you are able to reset a tamper fault then you should be ok.

I suggest though you remove the aux fuse in the panel as you will more than likely blow it if power to the detector is left on.

If it's a professionally installed system, I'd suggest you give your company a call though to make sure they are happy for you to do this.
