After removing the battery my car won't start anymore.

Fuelpump primes but starter doens't crank. Just get some sort of "clonck" noise from what I suspect is the starter...

Dash reads "system fault 128"

Any clues?

Thanks.

On my fault code list, 128 is 'water sensor fault'?

Would this prevent the starter motor from cranking?

Does the immobiliser/alarm needs resetting after battery replacement?

I would say no. Last time mine 'clonked' more of a click actually the battery was still flat and there was not enough juice to crank the engine over. I have emailed you how to re-set the alarm/immob. If you have jump leads try jump starting it. Also whay voltage do you see on the dash readout? anything under 12.2V and I reckon it will struggle to crank the engine over.

Thanks for your mail.

Dash reads 12.4V

Have tried jumpleads already as the symptoms are very similar to a flat battery. Indeed is more of a "clink" sound thnen a "clonk" one ;-)

Have checked the 3 main fuses aswell, also checked earthleads.

Seems as it is more alarm/immobiliser related...

how can I check whether startermotor isn't faulty. Would be a coincidence I know . . .

So far have tried:
-jumpstart
-reset alarm
-disconnect connect battery again
-check the main fuses (how can you tell if 125one is blown?)

Am running out of ideas by now...

Any help appreciated

ETA: Dash also gives faulty codes for oil temp and oil pressure. But car had this before sometimes aswell. In fact this was the reason why I took the battery out in the first place in order to check the earth connections...

Loose earth connection although not behind the battery but at engine mount on driverside...

It was a coincidence that it started playing up after the battery removal...

Was getting a bit desperate though...
