More Audi bashing

Did anyone else watch the F1 forum and see Adrain Newey being Interviewed? He was asked about the new 4 pot turbo engines being bought in to F1. Basically he said that Audi were trying to force it through as it would be a condition for them becoming an engine (maybe chassis?) manufacturer. Apparently they decided they were not interested and a V6 now looks more likely. I find it hard to believe that a company with no track record in F1 could hold so much power and I was under the impression it was purely for environmental. His tone of voice suggested he was not Audi's biggest fan right now

He also made other good points about the packaging of the engines and how a 4 cylinder could not be a stressed structural part of the car.

Any opinions?

F1 is a total snoozefest anyway, they need to simplify the rules a lot. Ie, smaller wings, big wide slick Tyres, & limited fuel, min weight.

Everything else is then down to the team, engine capacity, layout, etc etc. Be much more interesting & allow lower budget teams to have a better chance of making a clever package, while low aero dependancy would make overtaking much easier & safer.

Newey is unlikely to lie about this, so I'd say he was genuinely pissed off at Audi, for pissing them about. Skodas anyway

I have often thought the same, set the maximum amount of downforce, maximum amount of BHP and torque the engine can produce and tell them to get on with it
