I was chuffed to bits last week went for a nice cruise ,motoway A and B roads and managed to get 130miles on £30 so that works out well over 25 to a gallon. Its a diffent story for town driving ,i got 75 miles on £30 now that terrible...Its that normal..Only went shopping ..These engines just are not suited to town driving..Makes me wonder if its worth keeping ..might go back to a MGB.!
Ethanol fuel blend is here already Alex, it's currently a low percentage blend.
As the percentage of ethanol increases you will long for the days of real fuel just like your dad eulogises about the amazing 5 star stuff that sadly was completely phased out in the early 80's.
Ethanol is very corrosive and will vapourise at frighteningly low temperatures.
In a TVR full on E85 will be a nightmare.
I measured my MPG over the 380 miles I did this weekend.
The weekend included.
Happy with that

- Mostly cruising at a steady 80-85
- Some rapid A & B road stuff
- Some sedate A & B road stuff
- One 130mph 2 mile run
- One tyre smoking chav annihilation off the lights
Happy with that

Thats not bad at all My Cerb does around 14-15 MPG most of the time built up areas with some country blasts. Who Cares it's worth it worked it out the first few tanks i put in it just to see what it was like next to the chim it was around 18-22 MPG most of the time. On a run the chim hits 28-30 the cerb will be less than that i think.

"that'll be £50 for the first half hour minimum call out, then £10 a minute charged in minimum hourly blocks. Just sign here. And I'll need a cash deposit now please for the parts. Right, I've got to go down the wholesalers for the parts, might take a while because of the traffic"

"oh, ok. Well, I'll see you in a bit then..."

"Lee, get your fat a*se down the snooker, I'll be there in 10 minutes"

OK, this is how it works;
Fun driving, track days, take the tiv.
Long mundane journeys and general titting around town, wifes diesel, it's what it's made for, (the diesel not the wife!).
Bye the bye, yesterday had a standing start up to 70mph "negotiation" with a Dodge Viper all striped and big wheeled.
The outcome was identical except that I bet he used more fuel then me
