Tamora GX53AXV, TVR Mads, anyone viewed/thoughts ?
Discussion
Hi,
I've been asked to view the Tamora at TVR Mads later this week for a mate and wondered if anyone knew the car or had viewed it and had any thoughts and/or comments ?
It's been on the market for a while. Web search throws up nothing apart from a view track day pictures.

Nice ones here too, same question

Honestly? Very strong money for them....
Honest opinions are always the best
Is "very strong money" another way of saying over priced ? or just towards the top of realistic value ?
I didn't think £16k5 was high for a v.late 2003 car. What are you thinking is realistic.
Dealers - Decending price
2005, 13200, £25995
2002, 8250, £18990
2002, 21570, £17995 *Rebuild @ 11964
2002, 22000, £16995 *Retrimmed, air con,
2003, 28300, £16490 *Front end respray required, facelift
2002, 37000, £15750
2002, 52000, £15500 *facelift
2002, 33020, £14995
2002, 25877, £14495 *Rebuild
2002, 36000, £13995
There is quite a wide price spread on the above cars I've no idea what could be considered realistic value.
Obviously condition places a major part not to mention other personal requirements.

Seem expensive given that:
Non of them have had one and all seem ripe for one based on ages/millages of most rebuilds.
Rebuilds are always a tricky subject. Plenty of early cars which haven't had a rebuild and with high mileage so I wouldn't reject a car based on whether it'd had a rebuildNon of them have had one and all seem ripe for one based on ages/millages of most rebuilds.
i take your point, but given that it is at least quite likely/very possible cars of this age will need a rebuild soon, for me anyway, you have to have that money stashed away as a contigency, on top of the price of the car, so works at the same in terms of the money you need to have to buy one.

Unfortunately factoring in the cost of a rebuild means very few, if any, of the above dealer cars are worth it.I'm just saying that the prices are a little strong... My 52 plate Tamora I got last year at £12500. It's around the 20k miles mark, and needs a rebuild (hence me getting it).
Racing Green normally are vilified as being the pricey ones, but they had a gorgeous Tam at £16k (ish), with much less mileage, and it didn't look like it needed any work at all. Looks like it sold last week though.
With those two examples, I'd have said that £15k would have been a good price, £16k is strong with the work that needs doing, but it is summer, and if they can get it, good for them!

Just had a look on the classifieds and there are appear to be 3 types of front end designs, i always thought there were just the 2, one with lights aligned vertically and one with the lights offset, but i can see the blue one at Tony Gilberts are offset, but not by as much as say the swordfish one at TrackV.... or is it my eyes? As for price they're all cheap for what you get, but that's TVR fullstop.

Not sure about the lights, they look the same to me.I agree on price, when considering performance for cash they're great value.
We'll see what the Mads car is like at the weekend. Far more important stuff can happen to us than having to fund a rebuild so no point in worrying.

GX53 AXV ? I fancied it too but he told me there's no Service Book/History with it.
Pretty car, low miles, i was gutted to have to walk away...
I can give you at least some of the history, and also have a spare service book (with no stamps). Obviously this doesn't take into account the last 18 months.Pretty car, low miles, i was gutted to have to walk away...

Too late for me, but thanks - bought a chim 500 instead. The performance being "inadequate" (to parody AM, rolls etc.), Jamie Rogers of Castle fame is improving, rebuilding and supercharging the 5.0 for me next week. 400bhp/450ftlbs is what we reckon..Showing off a little admittedly, but only because i still feel like a 5 year old on xmas eve !
The car's original service book was lost. There is a new book, with copies of the old service bills, although the 1k and 6k ones are missing, so it's not complete service history. Moulder - if you have them I'd be grateful. I like the Vespa/Tamora photo btw!
If anybody is interested they can have the Tamora at £15500 sold as seen now. On the plus side it's been serviced by X Works, has recent-ish shocks and new rear tyres (although I've done the TVRCC Zolder track day on them now), plus it's got the FULL leather interior option.
At £16490 I was going to replace the carpets - they have faded although looking at the other TVRs with blue carpets being sold on here, perhaps not that badly); refurb the alloys and put three months warranty on it.
At £16990 I would do the above, plus IMO the front end needs a blowing-in resray, but two seperate people at Zolder said I was being too fussy.
Re the engine comments, I wouldn't have bought it if X Works didn't consider the engine to be in good health. And it got a first in the Le Mans Relay; and a third in class on the slalom, at TVRCC Zolder; and that's with me driving, so it's not down on power or burning oil etc.

Grrrrrr... James !!If only you'd told me all that, we might've done a deal. You simply told me at the time there was no history...
I'd even got as far as getting insurance cover on specifically your car
Hey ho - these misunderstandings happen
