What is the point?

Realise that it's designed to get a high turnover of spaces, but 30 minutes is just as effective and more useful.

With 15 minutes you don't have enough time to do anything. Maybe if the Post Office or High St, say, is only a couple of minutes walk away, but even then all you need is a fair old queue and a complication or two and you're risking overstaying.

But 15 minutes limit when the nearest shop/ business is pretty much 5 minutes fast walk away? Just what is the point, apart from upping the Council fine revenue. Everybody knows the wardens don't come round every 15 minutes, so almost everyone chances it. Thus they still don't get the desired turnover of spaces.

Or maybe it's just our local community, as our councillors do seem unusually retarded.

Saw one the other day. Parked there for 45 minutes and everything was fine. And there were plenty of spaces left. Dont get it myself. Very odd and utterly pointless.

The point is to get parking fines. I've probably spent longer than 15 minutes queueing in the post office ( ).

There is a similar (although not quite as extreme) situation at my local shops, which are near a row of houses. The marked parking box at the side of the road has been there for ages without any restrictions, and the home-owners or shop-goers park there no problem. Suddenly a sign has appeared saying "maximum 1 hour no return within 3 hours". This has been completely ignored by the home-owners, who happily leave their cars outside overnight and right through the day, and not one parking warden has ever been seen. So what's the point of putting a restriction in place when a) there was no issue with parking there previously and b) it is never policed by wardens (not that I want it to be)?
