Im looking into going to the ring for the first time in august, but i wanted to know was is the ring generally alot quieter in the week during an evening session?

As it's my first time going i ideally would like it to be quiet so i can focus on making it round and driving home at the end of it.

Im thinking of going on 7/8/9 August

thankyou

I find the quietest time is about 8:00am on any wet day that it's open.

When I was there earlier in the month I was the 2nd on track and once I'd overtaken the person who went through the barrier before me I didn't seen anyone in my mirrors for the whole lap.

It was a lot scarier in the wet though eek

Never done a mid-week evening so can't comment on those, but the Saturday evening ones are cancelled quite frequently if they've got a good bit of cleaning up to do after a race day.

If you want quiet track time you want first thing in the morning, last thing before it closes or just about any time during a track day (such as Destination Nurburgring - where it can be possible if you are lucky to get a completely clear lap on occasion).

Generally yes much quieter mid week eves, can get near empty laps if you are lucky, however its not always the case & oddly some of the quietest lapping I've had have been on a Sunday when a big event is on the GP track, Moto Gp or Truck GP etc, roads packed town busy, but empty ns.

There was a few wks back on odd one, track open all day Fri but not a German or uk or Euro bank holday & was closed on the Sat, it was bloody epic hot sunny & utterly empty most of the day.

As the above have mentioned.

Basically anytime other than during the day on Sat and Sun!! It also depends what's going on in Germany on any given weekend. If it's some kind of national holiday or festival or something you may find it's not as busy as the Germans will stay away.

Generally mid week evenings are NOT quieter anymore as there are so few of them. Esepcially August.

If you want a quiet time lapping the ring, go for a weekend in early November. its a gamble on weather but i have been in november and its the best time to lap as very quiet.

I went there at the weekend a month ago and only got two laps as iit was a rare time when the whole GP and Ring were combined after a VLN race. It was a nightmare and idiots everywhere...too many cars and egos on track.

I went back a week later on a tuesday night, VERY quiet and a few nice cars...Ferrari, Porsche etc and I was able to chat to german drivers and shotgunned in an E30 M3 which was great learning tactics and lines with him.

I say go week nights, yeah there will be an ego or two, but the people on track have more respect for it and there will be no queueing or waiting to get on the track. I was stuck in a corvette C5 and C6 sandwich for first 5km's and we all had fun...which if it were a weekend there would be traffic and all sorts of other issues to consider which makes the time and track so stressful!!!! I would recommend the quiet tuesday or thursday evening as you'll enjoy it more being able to concentrate on what is ahead iof you rather than that idiot in a Porsche trying to push you off the road out of no where! I love the track, it gets in your bones!!!

Thats my advice

me and a mate are going to the ring in august. We are leaving on Thursday 4th specifically so that we can do the Friday evening session in the hope that it will be quieter (always use to be but I haven't been for 3 years).

The alternative is to get up really early to be there when it first opens will still be busy but shouldn't be quite as crazy as later in the day on Sat/Sun.

If your nervous migh be best to get someone to lead you round for your first lap or even to a passenger lap - but as you will still be clueless as to which way the track goes IMO you are better off driving yourself and just taking it steady.
