Picked up the new Vogue today.

Now I have huge respect for my 06 Vogue and it is a brilliant car. But I must confess to being surprised by how the 2011 car has moved on.
The 4.4 engine is superb and the reduced noise is very noticeable. The audio is incredible, and what a difference DAB makes.
A couple of things I am still getting used to, including the seats which don't seem as adjustble as the ones in the old car. And the daft gear knob. What is wrong with a lever exactly? The only plus point of the knob is that if you spill a can of pop on the centre console it will drain into the gap around the knob instead of onto the floor. It's unlikely this will interfere with gear selection.
I am going to write to Land Rover about keyless start. It would be fine if you didn't still need to have a key with you (which weighs about a kilo), but when you do need to have your keys you then need somewhere to store them and the centre storage has shrunk by 60%, so stuffing the keys in there just scratches your mobile phone and potentially snaps off the USB.
No, what is needed is somewhere on the dash to store the keys. For example a hole where one of them could poke in and just hang there. I know, once there the key could be rotated to start the engine. No need for a separate button. Then to stop the car you could turn it the other way.... hey, think I'm on to something here.

I personally don't see the point of the starter button because there is nowhere to store the keys and I am left fumbling about in the centre console for the gate fob. It seems that LR feels compelled to do something different with the key with each new model.
The gear knob, keyless start and gear knob are daft fashion ideas and LR should be shot for them. The car, however, is sublime to drive and fast for a diesel. However, I was driving my TD6 Vogue earlier and I was reminded what a great car it is - it feels more in touch with the LR roots if you understand me. I will miss it.

to me rear tints were essential as i frequently carry expensive fishing gear in the boot and want to avoid prying eyes!
got a similar tow hitch myself - the detachable one is for 'poseurs' who dislike the 'look'

TD6 is a good car but the TDV8 is supposed to be superb - i'm a petrol head and love my 4.4 V8!
Similarly surprised that there's no storage for the key - they could at least have found a Freelander-style slot for it.
It's a bit of a fudge - it apparently doesn't the expected keyless access too because the internals of the door would have to be redesigned.
Not convinced about the gear selector either - it looks a bit delicate, doesn't feel particularly positive when you turn it and you lose the nice chunky rotary selector for the Terrain Response.
