Started hearing fairly high pitched whining noise, and I think its coming from behind the seats, so I am guessing its the fuel pump. The pump has always made a noise but its changed recently.

Do you reckon my guess is correct? Probably needs replacing, anyone give me a clue whether this is a tricky job or not? I am not particularly mechanically minded but could put my mind to it if its not too complex or needs any special tools. Advice please.

Thanks.

Wild stab in the dark here, but is the whining noise happening after long runs or when taking the car out in hotter temperatures? I only ask as I had a high-pitched whining for ages under these circumstances and couldn't figure out what it was for the life of me. Turned out to be pressure build-up in the fuel tank. Opening the valve soon stopped it!

if it is just during the hot weather then it might be the pressure as mentioned, have you put your ear to the pump/filler gap to see which is the source?

Well I have noticed it only recently, and come to think of it most of the runs have been fairly long. Yesterday for example, it was a) very hot and b) 90 mins each way. So maybe. I will try it on a shorter run today, although still fairly warm.

When you say valve, do you mean open the filler cap or is there another valve somewhere?

Filler cap. For the life of me I couldn't think of the word at the time so used valve instead! Brainfart day today!

Does it make this noise from cold or only once the car if hot? If from cold I'd say it's more than likely one of the fuel pumps. I have the same noise on my T350, fuel pump has been noisy for a while and is being changed now it's in for service.

Mine does this too sometimes, usually after long runs. I thinks it's just a T350 'feature'!!!
