top tips to apply to Cerbera

Im due to get my 2001 4.2 next week. I understand its already been de-catted and got new spiders all round as two were kerbed.
HHC have also replaced the dampers all round with Bilsteins.

Is there anything else that could be done to bring this up to super spec?

The bilsteins will be the original TVR specc'd dampers. So dump those and get some decent shocks valved for Cerberas (eg Nitron).
The other thing is to get it remapped.

Yep what Gazza said although not as much to be gained re-mapping the 4.2.as the 4.5 they were pretty well set up at the factory, re- spray silver if its not already they tend to be faster and look sexier imho

Not all 4.2 were set up well at the factory, mine started with 287 bhp before re map and left with 340 bhp, i think it all depends on the car, some were put together very well, others wernt so lucky

Mines always measured somewhere between 343 and 346bhp, but it you get joo to work his magic you end up with a much smoother car to drive. The torque curve bangs in at 2K revs, not 3K and he releases a little more power, about 10%.

Call Raceproved and they book you in and Joo will do the work.

If you are going to the trouble of getting a 4.2 remapped, I would get the throttle bodies and butterflys gas flowed first. As a late 4.2 there is a fair chance its actually a 4.5 bottom end, the results may surprise you.

Was 287bhp fly wheel power or at the wheels?

I had my 98 4.2 put on Austecs RR some years ago and the read out was 293.2 at the wheels with 52 transmission loss. Is this normal sort of output? I have since had it decated and now run a sports exhaust. Would that have made any difference do you think?

As a rule of thumb, a sorted (mapped) 4.5 will give 405ish at the fly and a similarly sorted 4.2 about 375 - subtract 70 or so for at the wheels but ymmv. (waits for the flak)
