M12 GTO 3R Potential money pit...!

Hello to all, I have been a petrol head for well over six years starting with an over upgraded 2003 Audi RS6 running around 568 BHP with full MTM tune, then moved onto try Porsche 911 Turbo "450"......, however I have been saving hard for around two years to get hold of a FAST "weekend only" car, the kitty currently sits at around £20000 give or take the odd weekend or two away with the lads. My original aim was to get myself in the seat of an M400; however I now find myself in mid-summer and do not think I can wait till next summer to purchase one. I have spotted "as you all have" the damaged repaired cat c 2004 silver GTO 3R ... I have spoken to the seller and it seems well sorted, am I about to open a can of worms if I jump in blind or have any other members on this site done the same thing with little worries? Also if i do decided to purchase the car is there any local owners who would like to earn a few pounds for attending the viewing before I join the fold......??
If you buy cheap then you can afford to sell cheap.
Adrians comment "be careful" means exactly that, it doesnt mean, "don't consider it", it needs a health inspection by a Noble expert and to check the Geometry to make sure nothing is untoward, if the car really is well sorted then there is no reason for the seller to be worried and it is just the downside of having a CAT listing, which is refelcted in the price.
Just keep on looking for someone who knows their stuff to check the car over for you.

My 3r was a cat d, i bought it in wales coming from scotland unseen, didnt check that much and was lucky i guess, i just wanted one and the price was right. I have had no issues with it other than the usual ones, like just checked my manifolds tonight and both cracked, gutted! Apart from that it had a light front end impaact and the clam had been repaired but very difficult to see from inside the clam. Also the front corner of the chassis had been repaired, but welds are fine and nly the thin section at the front. Still need rust removing now as i got it in october and drove it through winter, regret it now but was fun! Just needing the floor off and a srub down and paint anyway, wont be going far with two cracked manifolds anyway!

Well against my better judgement yesterday I decided to do the drive from my neck of the woods near Ledbury right up across to near Kings Lynn and have a look at the GTO 3R “Cat C Repaired”. I must say that even though the owner of the car was not present for the viewing I did have all my questions answered by the gentleman that was, I was informed that It had low impact to the rear and all work had been carried out to a high spec, I was also informed that I am welcome to conduct any inspection before purchase, also able to have a Noble specialist drive and look over all the repairs, this would include a full Geometry set up and HPI check “at my own expense of course”. The car appears to be in good mechanical order with a fine tone from the engine, I feel it is priced well and could turn out to be a good purchase providing it passes all the pre purchase checks, on the down side the paperwork only consisted of one MOT certificate, one not too descript service form and the ownership paper. To say the least, I expected to see more paperwork also the new rear tyres could be hiding a sin of sorts. I think I am going to wait till next year and bag myself a low millage low owner example with a full and in depth history. If anybody is looking to sell there GTO 3R next summer then please would you get in touch as I will have all the money in full then “currently 22K+”. If you are thinking of viewing the Cat C, take a Noble experienced mechanic and have a test drive as you may bag a bit of a deal…..

I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole mate. You could have a big problems selling it on should you need to/want to in the future.
