Hi guys

Just a quick (and possibly stupid) question on these brake upgrades such as the AP racing kits on the E46 M3.

Presumably these 6 pot front / 4 pot rear callipers are extremely powerful, far more so than the OEMs? Assuming this is the case if you were driving at 80mph on a dry road with high levels of grip and had to really hit everything to stop for something I would imagine with a really decent set of tyres this would put an immense strain on the suspension, hubs, bearings, steering components etc? The stress may be well well within acceptable levels for each component but that was my question really could the top end brake upgrade kits (Brembo / AP etc) actually damage the car if you have to do an emergency stop from high speed?

My apologies if this is a silly question I'm no engineer. I am hoping that someone will say "yes it does, terrible idea these brake upgrades" to dissuade me from purchasing a AP front / rear kit when I finally buy the dream E46 M3 early next year and save myself 2.5k or whatever it comes in at! smile

Cheers

AP 4-pot front kit works a treat, doesn't appear to do any damage to any other part of the car despite heavy use.

Well, it's been on the car for a few years and many, many thousands of hard miles and nothing appears to have suffered so far smile
