Track Day at Thruxton - Whats it like?

A question to all of those who have been to Thruxton.

Its my 18th birthday tomorrow, and as an early birthday present I've got a Lamborghini Gallardo 'PLUS' experience at Thruxton. I've done a track day thing before in a DB9, and the instructor pretty much sat abck and let me get on with driving the car (at Prodrive), and I'm confident (not cocky) behind the wheel of a car, been driving solo at the age of 10.

So I was wondering is there anybody on here who has had the same driving experience as me? or can anyone tell me what the instructors are like, also what is the Cayman and single seater like to drive as I will be driving them too.

I did a trackday at Thruxton last March. Very good day. Cayman was very nice to drive, instructor seemed quite relaxed. I chose the Ferrari California as the main car which was brilliant. Single seater was a good experience but the rain was so heavy I couldn't get the most out of it. It was restricted to 4.5K revs but still felt very lively.
The highlight for me was going out in an M3 with Tiff Needell. If he is there tomorrow, you've got to pay the extra to go out with him, excellent fun.

If you're used to driving on track with your own car, these 'Red Letter' type days are pretty tame IMO.

I loved the Fezza 360 experience I got at Thruxton, but only because I was very young and had never driven on track before. In retrospect it was pretty dull for what you pay.

They cone off a narrow strip of circuit from the club chicane to allard to keep you away from the walls. As others have said, you'll have fun, but if your used to track driving it'll seem tame.

It's worth watching some on-board video of the track as it has very few reference points out the back of the circuit. I did the Ferrari 360 experience for my 18th and thought it was wonderful, though the 6 laps out on my own in the FRenault were the most fun. I bought one for my dad 2 years ago and paid to get a passenger ride with Tom Onslow-Cole in an RX8. I told him he was loads better than Andrew Jordan and asked whether he'd go extra sideways. He duly obliged and he offered an amazing lap. Great opportunity to sit next to someone truly talented.

You can pay to have extra laps in other cars, but I seem to remember that was a bit pricey.
I was a little underwhelmed by the Cayman, but loved the formula Renault - that might be down to everyone else on track at the time dawdling, so I felt like I was some kind of hero.

Day was a bit too short, but a good taster - and the RX-8 (i guess the precursor to the M3) was hilarious.

When i went on one there were lots of cones around the circuit to act as reference points
