help with my ford focus
Discussion
hello i have a 2.0 ford focus duratec petrol and dont feel like the performance is at its best the car is completley standard and has no mods at all i just wanna know what can bring up the bhp and the cheapest way .... ive also got a subaru wrx prodrive that i have to sell now due to the loss of my job and the focus just feels so slow i know im not gonna get close to a subarus performance in a focus i think so any help is much appreciated
i always service it every time its due to keep up with the service history so just follow the book really always serviced with ford ----
i know what u mean about family car but just want a little more go in it if u know what i mean and as for expectation i havent a clue really lol ---
and i would love to stick a turbo on it but cant see it happening as i have the pleasure of also running my missus car aswell and dont think my insurance would be that great either ---
i would like to get it running at about 200-250bhp its at about 148bhp as standard --
thanks for the replys

It should go reasonably well. I've a 1.8 Duratec Mondeo, and it's not slow (well, not Focus 90hp diesel slow, anyway).
Check the plugs have been replaced, often they're not done - when I got my Mondeo with it's full Ford service history, it ran like ass. Got my local mechanic to replace the plugs. They were rusted in, and the electrodes were totally burnt off - he said the plugs were almost definitely the ones it left the factory with. Iridium plugs don't burn out that much in 30k, so he said they must have been there for the 55k from new. New plugs from ECP (Bosch), and it was like a different car.
Also make sure the MAP sensor is working OK, and there's no leaks in the vacuum pipes. You might also want to clean the throttle butterfly.
