Heading down to Waterford to watch the Tall Ships race on sunday morning and have decided to cook Devilled Kidneys for breakfast,have portable bbq will travel,any suggestions on a drink accompaniment,alcholic that is ?

Depending on how close to the yard arm it is, I'd suggest a nice Akvavit, personal favourite would be Aalborg, freeze the bottle for optimum results

tempting ! but i have to drive later,so its between the BM suggestion and a black velvet.i wonder would a pint of port have gone with it originally

The other Devilled breakfast staple I would suggest is Devilled bones served with a pink gin. Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong decade, and would rather suit a 'Man about town' lifestyle of the early Twentieth Century.

I've read that the traditional accompaniment for devilled kidneys is the original Black Velvet - Champagne & Stout. How accurate this claim is I have no idea.
