Going to Australia last year I flew with Royal Brunei. It was a dry flight but you could take drink bought at Duty Free at Heathrow to drink yourself onboard. There were two stops en route where you got off the plane and waited in the in-transit lounge. I was allowed to take my wine into the in-transit lounge at the second stop which was Brunei but when I re-boarded the plane for Perth they confiscated my wine.
On the way back to the UK I spent two days in Brunei and there was no alcohol available in the hotel or the restaurants.

My FiL was Chief Pilot, then 2nd in command of RBA until 4 years ago (most senior non National, top spot has to be occupied by a National). He lived there for about 15 years. He flies out to Spain for a month this weekend, but if I manage to speak to him before he goes I'll ask him if you can get some.
I do remember tales of some small spit of land about half a mile off the coast that had nothing but one small shack on it, selling alcohol. They used to go out on little speedboats and bring some crates back
Probably no use to you but always made me chuckle at the thought of all these old boys doing a beer run by sea
