A strange "sloshing" sound.......
Discussion
Went to use the MX5 today (N reg). Not been used since the weekend and we have had some really heavy rain in that time.
Turned the first corner and there is a loud "sloshing noise" from behind me. I can't smell petrol so I asumme that water is trapped somewhere.
Any ideas where to look and what drain holes need un-blocking? Was in a rush so just parked it back on the drive.
Cheers,

You might want to start with clearing the drain holes for the roof. If you fold the roof down, under the carpet on the rear bench you will find a small hole on each side of the car near the seatbelts. You'll need to rod these carefully to avoid damaging the flaps further down that stop crap and insects coming back up. I use the standard aerial and works well enough. Just take your time. If you are lucky you my push out a load of crap and maybe a load of water if the car is sloping backwards.
If you have water in the sills already this might turn into a can of worms if you intend on sorting the job properly i am afraid. Else your '5 is on borrowed time before the rust gets in...

Thanks for that. The strange/annoying thing is that I have just (in the last month) had new sills put in for the MOT! They won't last long if they keep filling up with water!
There should be drain holes in the sills too. Look for the jacking points, they should be in the sill seam there. Make sure that when they replaced your sills they put in drain points, if not you'll have to take it back to them to get it sorted.eunos ross said:
