V317 - transfer reg number - help

Hi,

I'm selling my car, and at the same time transferring the plate on to one of my other cars and need some help with the form.

When completing section 2 - details of the car that is being transferred from (ie the one I'm selling) do I put myself down as the registered keeper (as printed on the current V5, which will also have the new keepers details filled in and will be submitted with the V317) or the new keeper?

Any help appreciated....

It'd be easier to get it back on it's orginal plates and then sell in two weeks when you've got the new V5, tax disc etc etc. I don't think you can just put the old plates back on and sell immediately when sending off the forms as it'll have the wrong plates on as far as the police are concerned and won't be taxed etc.

Can only do this from a car you own to another car you own IMHO

Normally Takes 5-7 days before you get the local DVLA office issue of green slips (reg doc substitutes - hand ammended), numberplate manufacture authorisation and new VED discs

Reg docs will follow approx two weeks later direct from DVLA
