What movements do they use?
Thoughts on resale?
Desirability?

Movements- Some in house, some propriety.
Resale- The value drops like a stone from new and then starts to depreciate rapidly.
Desirability- See above.

DH wink

Basically, don't buy one new if your intention is to own/ trade on at some point & expect to get the same cash back or more. They are pretty much all an acquired taste hence they don't hold money too well. Having said that they're (IME) very well built & draw lots of generally positive attention (provided you have the wrists to carry off some of the gents larger models).

If it's a Ladies watch you want check out Ernest Jones (yes really!) who are clearing their remaining stock- 5k models down to 2k... bling in the extreme!

I went through a phase of loving Corum watches simply because I wanted something different. I tried a few on and was put off because there's a fine line between different and lairy...

Some of them are bloody huge which makes feel slightly awkward.

If you're feeling brave then go for it!!

Cheers guys. I've not seen one in the flesh.

As for the resale question. Tastes change over the years, st happens etc. I may need to sell for whatever reason. There are plenty others to choose from out there that will hold their value more if the need arises. No point spending what is going to be £1000's on something that will be worth a small fraction of that. Plus it gives me a bit more of a barganining tool when buying. wink

That'd be Quinny - I agree it's a pretty cool watch though whether I'd have the balls to wear it or not is another matter!

Have you seen the one currently on ebay? (same but on rubber)http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CORUM-ADMIRALS-CUP-41-/170660456192?pt=UK_Jewelery_Watches_Watches_MensWatches_GL&hash=item27bc27e700

No I can't check ebay at work but will have a look when I get in.

I've not been interested in any of the Corum range to be fair. Either far too expensive or large or loud or all 3. This one seems a bit more discreet yet different enough to stand out. Size wise it's about 41mm so seems reasonable enough for office wear.

I likr them a lot. Which probably means they are not desirable smile

I am a sucker for thick crystals and watches that look a bit different.

I really like the admirals cup chronos and will probably end up with one at one point.

Quite like the idea of the Corums, but in reality as mentioned they're often a bit too much.

The golden bridge watches are lovely to look at, but if I were to go for one (which I nearly did) it'd be the one you posted. Certainly buy it second hand, Corums really do drop a whole heap of money

To me they are like classic cars, nice to admire but I wouldn't want to actually spend my own money on one.

Simply don't do it.
They try to play with the big boys such as AP, and don't do it well

For something a bit different, how about a Ball? smile

Ball have lots of different styles throughout their large range. The above watches are just 3 examples from the 'Hydrocarbon' line smile Oh, by the way, the Spacemaster Glow at night:

There was a nice one on Chronomaster this time last year that I was a bit slow on purchasing. I prefer the look of the Corum above to the Balls I've seen but prefer the Balls in general to the Corum as a company.

So let me get this straight; you prefer Balls? hehe

See! You could never make such a joke with a Corum ... Added value! wink

I only have one Ball frown
