Got a Karcher 502, bought new a few years back and only had light use. But WTF, I have had to have 4 lances now for it, the original died about 2 months in, started leaking round the hose entry, got it replaced and that wnet again after 3 months. Then, it was replaced at Karcher by a "new model" one with a pressure gauge on it, and that lasted about 6 months, then the pring in the bit that the lance end clicks into came adrift, so I had to buy a new one, at £49 trade. That one bust last week, same problem, the spring, and ebay brought up the fact that it has been upgraded again, now no gauge on it.
So order it for £30, it came this week, and tried it today, for some reason, the vario lance end I have now wont work with it, it will spray low pressure on "mix" but as soon as you rotate the lance to be high pressure the flow just stops.

I'm fked right off tbh and thinking of just buying a new complete washer, but can only get Karcher in the shops it seems and loathed to give them more cash!

Any ideas?

My Nilfisk lance leaked in 2 places a few uses from new but I'd still have one over a Karcher.

But my old Bosch lance was fine over 6 years until a internal valve problem made me replace it with a Nilfisk.

Buy a diesel pressure washer and you wont get these problems.

Buy a cheap plastic washer = buy every few years.

I have no idea where karcher, nilfisk etc get their good names from, I have never heard of any of them lasting more than 2-3 years.

So many of my customers tell me the same old thing, had a karcher paid £300 and now its broken!!

In a way, its a good thing for me as I get more business, but personally I would advise to stay away, even the expensive 'professional' karchers pack up and we all know the parts are a rip off too..

If your going to need a washer which your going to use a lot, go diesel. You wont get half the problems, and the resale value never drops on them...

Hope this helps smile

We've had the same Karcher for seven or eight years now I can't remember.

It get's pretty heavy duty on the drains and the patio.

It's kept in an unheated garage all year round and has never let us down.

Just for contrast!

Now it lives in the shed hoping that the sheds insulation will be insufficient and it freezes, hopefully I'll get one with the patio attachment this time as that wonderful conve3nience wasn't around when we bought this one!

My basic model Karcher is 10 years old and gets treated pretty badly too. Its probably not got as many hours on it as some, but its lasted just fine. I've just replaced it with a new basic model Karcher just to get the patio attachment (which won't fit the older models). I hope it is worth it! I spend 2-3 days doing our patios twice a year (say 10-12 hours actual pressure washing).

Buy one from Costco and it's effectively guaranteed for ever.
