Your aircon/climate control...

So tis now the time of year when all and sundry realise that having not turned their AC on since last August it has leaked/seized/exploded itself to death - or in Auto Trader speak 'just needs gas'.

I have aircon OCD and leave mine on auto all year round - what's your flavour?

Auto @ 19deg all year round. I only turn it off when running on fumes, or rather my wife does

But I only use the compressor:

a) when its hot/humid in the summer

or

b) to clear the screen in the winter

You dont have a poll option for that

I leave mine on all year round: I've done comparison journeys with it on or off and couldn't really say there was any noticable difference in MPG (A4 2.0Tdi and previous Passat 2.0Tdi). In winter/damp weather it clears the windscreen quicker than just the fan alone. Strange that when I get home I love to get out in the fresh air in the garden or wash the car.

Aircon stays off for me all the time, as having it on gives me a stonking headache for some reason. It didn't make much difference anyway with the Alfas and their pathetic ventilation systems, and the Tiv which I only realised had aircon this afternoon!

Learnt the hard way here that any money you save in fuel by turning it off during the cold months is instantly lost when you turn it on for the first time in summer and discover it no longer works...

I have to say I have used it once or twice on both of my cars, and in both cases it still blows cold when required

BMW's stays off most of the time, I fire it up once a week for a drive to work to keep it gassed and going.

None of the above - I put mine on once every few weeks, but prefer generally having the sunroof open anyway (which also gets opened & closed periodically over the winter months).

Vectra manual a/c switched on permanently with fan set on speed 1.

I prefer front windows & sunroof open pretty well constantly, even when it's warm. So I usually find it doesn't work when the cold season starts and I can't keep the windows de-misted as easily. So they get opened and the bum-warmers and heater cranked a bit to compensate. Useless idiot I am.

When I bought the car I spent a good 15 minutes checking thoroughly that it all worked as it should as the entire heating/cooling system is a notorious b*stard for working on.

20 degrees, Auto. Lovely jubbly.

Sometimes in the mornings though I'll switch it off and open the sunroof instead.
