Filled up witg regulat unleaded at Tesco last night, within 3 miles the car had developed what appeared to be a misfire. Plugged in the OBDII code reader, no faults, so I'm pointing the finger at Tesco fuel.

They of course deny any issue and claim it "must be a coincidence".

Therein lies the biggest mistake..... filling up at Tesco....you weren't scammed by the shop for £££ and get pence of litres by any chance?....I wouldn't even use their fuel in my lawn mower

Apperently Tesco sttest, along with the customer service attitude, they appeared offended that I could suspect their fuel, I mean, it's not like it's happened before is it????

Sticks.

FWIW filled my car up with Tesco 99 once and the fuel pump hummed quite loudly for the duration of the tank but has been fine for years since. Not used it again.

What fuel do you normally fill up with ? I use Tesco Momentum in the TVR, but if I put BP Ultimate in it shunts and coughs and runs rough. In the case of the TVR they seem to get used to one brand of fuel as others have reported similar outcomes when using Tesco instead of BP.

Did it clear up after a few miles (ECU learning mode ?)

Each of my three cars is regularly filled at Tesco: Unleaded, Momentum and Diesel - I never have any problems due to fuel.

What car is it?

Exactly the same thing happened to my mate in his XR2.

He solved the problem with a whole container of REDEX in the fuel tank smile

I just read that as "REDNEX" biggrin

My Saab went mental after the wife filled it at Sainsburys, chugging, misfiring, no boost, put Shells finest in and it was ok again, supermarket petrol is crap base on my experiences, also, filled with Shall in my old car, on a cosisten long commute and got 29 mpg, 27 every time on Tescos, now I am as sceptical as they come but you cant ignore evidence like that kind of difference and your car turning into a Tasmanian Devil.

I used to fill up with 99 in an old car of mine, until it needed a new engine.

I still believe ethanol = FAIL.

Had the car been empty when you filled it? Did you fill it right up, or stick a few litres in the tank, that still had some fuel in it?
Aboy 1/8 of a tank left, car is in use on a daily basis.

Excuse the thread bump, but after getting caught between stations, I put in £30 worth of super unleaded at Tesco. Within a few miles my car started to misfire and suffer bad hesitation. I didn't make the connection initially, but after replacing pretty much the whole ignition side, we were left with just the fuel to check. Draining the fuel and lines and filling with fresh V Power cured things. I'm as confident as I can be, that the Tesco fuel was to blame for the poor running.

Anyone else suffered poor running after buying Tesco fuel recently?

As someone in northern Ireland, quit complaining about Tesco. I'd sell a minor organ for an easy supply of 99 Ron!

Tesco's 99RON is just 95 with 10% ethanol to increase the octane rating, you can make the same mix yourself by pouring some octane booster in your tank.
Only 95 and 98RON gets distributed in pipelines, any other number means there's an additive in there to increase it.

Never had a problem with Momentum, I find V power better and BP Ultimate the worst of the three to the point that I don't use it.

I've used tesco fuel for years in a multitude of cars without an issue. The sheds ran on normal unleaded/diesel and my performance cars have always had momentum 98/99. Haven't had a problem as of yet.
