I had one for my flat in Edinburgh and to my surprise, it actually did ok.

Are you sure your sash windows don't open inwards for the very specific purpose of cleaning? I lived in the flat for 2 1/2 years before we needed a window replaced and the guy doing it opened it inwards - all sorts of hassle gone.

The magnetic jobbies do ok, but nowhere near as good as being able to do it by hand. The box is covered in warnings about how strong the magnets are though - they aren't lying - putting the thing back in the box was terrifying - nearly lost a finger a few times.

Cover the window frames with newspaper so they don't get dirty in the first place...

Hope this helps.... hehe

I bought a telescopic water fed pole off of eBay it came with all sorts of attachments for about £30. I was expecting it to be cheap crap tbh but am very impressed with the quality...

Saved me £10 a month on window cleaner, if my basic Maths is correct I'll be quids in in around 3

We have a window cleaner 'cos I'm not brilliant at heights. I'll go up a ladder but am really not comfortable with it so I'll happily pay a bloke to do it for me.

Over tha last couple of months our window cleaner has started using the telescopic long pole jobbie and when I quizzed him about it he said it's 'cos of elfansafetee. Apparantly his insurance won't cover him up a ladder unless there's someone holding the ladder and the job doesn't justify the cost of two people.

And the long pole thingy does the windows really well. And no "long pole" isn't a tall bloke from Krakow.hehe

So sort of makes me wonder why I pay the bloke. scratchchin Maybe I should buy the telescopic thingy myself. idea
