Hi to all PHers !

I am looking for some experienced assistance bow.

Myself and some friends are trying to organise a weekend driving tour in order to exercise our cars. We want to take in the Evo triangle and other decent roads in the area. We are looking to leave London on a Friday evening and return on Sunday late afternoon/evening.

To this end, any advice would be appreciated, particularly:
- Recommendations on good driving roads we should try to take in
- Potential Itinerary. For example, in order to get back to London on Sunday evening, is the evo triangle best done on the Saturday or the Sunday ?
- Decent tried and tested places to stay the night and also others to stop for lunch/dinner etc ?

Thanks for your help guys thumbup

We stayed at the Groes Inn, which is where the EVO guys stay, and it was spot on, really nice;

Thanks Tony.

Any recommendations for decent lunch stops if we are out on the Evo triangle run on the Saturday ?

If you're around the EVO triangle all day I recall there are lots of nice little pub type places, or even just petrol stations, depending on what you want. Can't remember what we did, apologies smile

There's a thread on the triangle here that might be of use to you also, contains some bits and bobs if you're planning a trip;

Thanks again Tony.

I am now thinking of maybe doing the Black Mountain Pass (http://www.drivingroads.co.uk/black-mountain-pass-top-gear-a4069) on Saturday morning and heading up to the Evo Triangle to stay near there on Saturday night and do it on Sunday morning.

What do you guys think ?

My usual route up is this- A4069, stay in the Red Lion nearby. Then onto the Mach Loop for the fast jets and more scenery/driving roads (note-no jets on the weekends) then onto North wales.

The Triangle is great, I would say do it both ways if you can. There are some very nice roads on the other side too. Betws Y Coed is a good spot for food, fish n chips etc. Visit Beddgelert and of course Snowdon, and you MUST do the Llanberis pass, late at night is always good! biggrin

I used to stay at the Groes, but I prefer http://www.bryndansifarm.co.uk/home.htm The farmers helper is a petrolhead, Brendas breakfast is lovely, and it's priced very well when you consider how nice it is.

Edited to add this link, which shows all the favourites. Elan valley is nice, but I can live without it when considering the quality of the other ones.
