Might sound a bit a bit odd.
Just getting the MG back on the road after a few months (clutch replaced today).
The MOT has expired and I had a pre-MOT check done just before the clutch went, and was told it would fail on brake pipes.

The guy who fitted the clutch (an MG Specialist) reckons they are not too bad, and if the garage does not do repairs and has no incentive to create work, they should pass it.

Will be getting a brake pipes done in the autumn anyway, just could do without the expense at the mo.

No but they will have the incentive of keeping their MOT business going,so perhaps more likely to be stricter as it is their only source of income.

I think you will find Camberley MOT Centre quite fair.
Every time I have taken a vehicle there the guy I deal with is very proffesional
in his approach.
I drop the vehicle off and come back later, leave them to it.

Another vote for the Camberley MOT centre nearly opposite the Royal Mail sorting office.

I take both of our cars there, have done for years and they have always been really helpful and friendly and never tried to charge for extra works, in fact have sorted minor stuff out for free.

I can't speak more highly of J&M Autos in Finchampstead. They do MoTs and also all the usual garage work but are so fair it amazes me. The Mrs Megane was serviced at a Renault dealer and they told her it needed a number of things done including new rear drums and a new water pump. She took it to J&M who had it for ages doing a number of tests on it but told her it didn't need any work at all. They didn't even charge her for the work they did!

I've had my Focus there a number of times and they have only charged me when there has been real work to do (new springs, heater fan switch) but not when it was minor work (removing exhaust heat shield, testing the ABS sensors & reading ecu codes 3 times which alone would have cost me over £70 each time at a Ford dealer!)

I let them do the MoT on all 3 of our cars now safe in the knowledge that they will never suggest work that doesn't need doing and also that if they say it needs doing it really does need doing. I'm fairly handy with a spanner myself and MoT stations can't pull the wool over my eyes easily so I do know what I'm talking about here smile
