rear brake caliper help

I've got somewhat of a trigger's broom of a road bike atm - the main issue is that the flat bars originally on it have been replace (by previous owner) with drop bars and tiagra brifters, but with the original v-brakes. I'm replacing the front brake with tiagra calipers, which look like they'll fit the fork fine. There is no caliper mount on the seatstays, however (afaik, there should be a single central hole, same as for the front calipers). So, options:

-leave the rear v-brake - it's got enough force to lock up the back anyway. I'll probably end up doing this, but it'll look and feel wrong.
-put a rear mount in (I wouldn't do this myself!) - I'm assuming drilling is out of the question, does anyone braze on mounts or similar?
-buy a shiftmate-type thing - it'll fix the feel, but will still look wrong.
edit:-cantilevers also possible.

The middle one, i.e. two calipers, is ideal, but I don't think it's possible. Opinions?

Another option would be to use a cantilever brake on the back. That's what the cyclocross guys use and it should work perfectly well with your lever as it is. For example: Link.

I'm sure that's possible but someone might be along soon to correct me if not!

Blast, forgot that option - I'll edit the above (yes, I could very easily get compatible cantilevers).

Admittedly I'm not a fan on cantilevers, mainly through association with a hand-me-down POS with utterly useless cantilevers. At the moment I'm going for a travel agent - I've heard many proponents and detractors of both these and cantilevers, so we'll just have to see
