Do you want to use original parts or fit some after market equipment ?
I once spent an afternoon intending to remove the air con from a 944 turbo but I only managed to remove the compressor. The pipes coming from behind the engine going to the fluid bottle (below front left pop up headlight) seemed impossible to remove without removing the engine.
I'd therefore guess retrofitting the air con using all the orignal parts would be quite of a hassle.
In second case it can be done effectively. I know of an '86 turbo that got one fitted by a Renault dealership. It works well, even better than the original system, IMO.

If anyone knows of anywhere doing aircon installs such as this I would be grateful for details. Have rung around a bundle of aircon specialists and can't seem to find anyone prepared to touch a 944. Very frustrating (but maybe I should take the hint that its just all too hard and expensive).
