I'm thinking of either a front end or a full respray. The front's pretty poorly stone-chipped and the rest of the paint is looking like its full 12 years old. Has anyone experienced the cost of paritial or full resprays? I'd like to know what I'm in for before trawling round for quotes. Is there anything I need to know (in case I'm bulls****ed by the bodyshop)?

I had new headlights and a full body respray at a place near Chester, lights are good but the spray job was Horrendous!!! and it cost £2200. Lights were another £700.

Now saved up enough for a spray job near Portsmouth and although it isn't finished yet (body is done but doors not) it looks fabulous! and a snip at only £1800.

Shop around see some finished jobs and don't trust adverts in Sprint!

I always believe you get what you pay for and good paint jobs are all about prep and taking your time. But at the same time you can also pay a lot for a terrible paint job. Always ask to see cars in the flesh that they have painted, does also depend how fussy your are Ive seen loads that I think stand out a mile and look awful but other people think it's quite a good jobrolleyes

I have contacted several well-known names in the TVR world and the figures for a full respray were ITRO £3000. I stress full respray: doors bonnet and boot off, wherever there is existing paint that'd be prepared and repainted. (This was for a car with no damage other than corner scuffs/paint-chips, btw).

I am as yet undecided as to which to use, all have their recommenders and I think it will come down to travelling distance from me.

I just had a full colour change done on my Cerbera by a guy locally - Herefordshire, so not too far for you.

The fact that I changed colour added a lot of work (and therefore cost) to the job, but I'm sure a straight re-paint would come somewhere near your budget.

There's a thread on the Cerb forum where you can see what I had done.

Given the colour change = work how much did the bill come to please?

(My figures quoted were also for a colour change btw)

There's usually a good reason why some become well-known..... ;-) Of course, it is always as good as the guy on the day - plus the knowledge, experience, preparation, facilities, etc.

£2800 for a full job.. everything off or out (including pods / doors etc)... and a propper job... even people in the spray trade have comented on what a nice job it is....also, you need the paint quality... Some cheaper paint look good but chip off easy as they go hard over time... so ensure you get the best paint you can!...

Why are people paying out for st paint jobs? its not like you cant see its st before you part with your money! it doesn't matter how much you pay there should be a standard of finish expected if they dont reach it tell them to do it again!

I have been quoted £1500sih for a full colour change on my Cerb might be a bit more as it will be going a re-flex colour and i may get the light pods blended while there at it.

My mate works in the body shop and they have painted a few things for me over the years to a very good standard.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know how much do the materials cost and how many man hours are involved?
