Poor running/Hesitant over 3500 revs
Discussion
Vague description follows... hopefully you know what i mean!!
My car is sometimes hesitant, like it is holding back when I go over 3500 revs. Like its not running well, and doesn't go as fast. sometimes its ok, but often doesnt run well.
What could the problem be? I recently had a full engine rebuild and only been able to drive over 3000 revs for a couple of hundred miles as I was running engine in 1st 1000 miles.
Initial thoughts are vacuum advance, Rotor arm or Distributer cap. Does this sound about right? anyone else had this issue? What should i look at 1st? Any other ideas?
Is this something the engine rebuilder should have sorted, or is it just unlucky that it has started doing it?
Really want to get car running properly so i can enjoy it, but getting frustrated with a string of problems!
Cheers

Possibly a bit of both. I would contact the engine builder and have them look at the problem. If it is engine related I would hope they would sort it but it might be an ancillary part that has been put under stress and failed once you moved the revs up after the run in period.i had a similar problem, but hilton and moss sorted it. the lead from the distributor goes to the coli i think, but where the coil was fixed to the engine/chassis it was loose and kept arcing out and making the car stutter. but when i stopped it would settle in a non arcing position if you know what i mean, snibs put a new bolt in and the car runs absolutely fantastic now
