Painted cam covers and inlet manifold now all the other engine parts look st. Any tips for cleaning old aluminium parts? I'll replace quite a lot shortly but could do with a quick fix for insitu cleaning as its annoying me know.

Get some of the acid / deturgent based alloy wheel cleaner (I have to get it from a local car paint supplier -Its to acidic to find in Halfords). It wont leave it shiney, but it will remove corrosion a treat.

use neilsens non-acidic ally wheel cleaner ,its available on the net ,not as harsh as acid cleaners which WILL discolour painted or coloured parts and electrical components don't like the acid !!
