After a bit of advice as to where I should be looking to resolve my creaky steering.

Seems to be fine when I first get the car out but perhaps after 15 so minutes of driving my steering when completing manuvers such as reversing in to carpark spaces or slowly turning out of junctions start to creak or become notchy hard to explain exactly without knowing the correct terminology.

Any one experienced similar and a been able to track where the problem may be rectified.
Thank you

Knock out both tierod ends then see if the rack turns from lock to lock ok. If ok then it could be the tierod ends are seized.

Following on from Aussie John's post, assuming there is no restriction with the steering, swivel each front wheel independantly to see which side if any is causing the restriction.

Sounds like one of the UJ's in the steering.
They are behind the drivers side front wheel. If you remove the wheel and get someone to turn the steering you should be able to hold each of them in turn it will be obvious if one is grinding/notchy.

Had something similar - the steering UJs were sticking after years of gunk. Replaced them both

You could use a rubber gaitor while it`s in bits to stop it happening in the future..and pack it with grease, anyone tried this.
