im pre warning you the RPI is not suitable for a Daily driven vehicle......
go for something more subtle like the supersprints or haywood & scott......

Thanks for that, I'll let her knowsmile,

I've heard that Haywood & Scott are custom made systems, could well give the look she's after without too much excess noise?

I've got the RPI's on mine for almost 2 years now. Epic noise but also epic drone. Mine's a daily driver but then again i'm a stubborn bd. Apparently the M Coupe tends to drone more with the RPI's than the M Roadster because of the closed cockpit.

It's fine for a weekend car but you'd never pass noise restrictions at tracks and it can drive one insane on the motorway, plus you cant really hear the engine with them on, it's only exhaust note. That was a major downer for me but i got used to it. This thing is the closest you can get to straight pipes. It's VERY loud. If you think an exhaust might be too loud for you then this is it. If volume is an issue seek elsewhere.

Of course you forget all these once you're in the twisties... Accelerating and heel-toeing, the noise bouncing off the cliff walls back at you, the exhaust popping and crackling with every release of the pedal... lick

Anyway If you're interested i've got plenty of onboard clips of my car here: http://www.youtube.com/user/MotoristCY

Thanks very much for that ga41smile,

It's the wife's daily driver, she does quite a few miles per week, town & motorway driving, I doubt if the car will ever get taken on track though.

She is really looking for a system (backbox) that slightly changes the sound of the oem one, takes away the 'raspiness'? I've had a passenger ride in Sixspeed's Z4M with the Haywood & Scott cat-back exhaust, it sounded really nice. She's after the look of the RPI tail pipes, so possibly H & S could fabricate something very similar without it being overly loud?

We've just started looking into all this so I think a lot more research is needed, thanks for the help so far guysthumbup

H&S should in theory be able to change the tips to your liking as i believe they're all made on order. You should also take a look at the Eisenmann Sport and the Supersprint Powerloop (i think it was called "Sport" before).

Agree with the above. RPI is loud. Have you considered Remus? Sounds quite nice without being ott.

I have a remus on the e92 m3 and pound for sound it is very good.Have driven to the ring a few times and it does not drone when cruising but makes the v8 sound great under throttle.
