Middle of last week I agreed to buy a BMW 7 series from a private seller, agreed a price and explained to him that we were going to the Goodwood FOS for the weekend so would sort it all out when I return - seller agreed.

Forward to today and I received an email saying "I am sorry to let you know that my car has been sold £10,500,someone came on Saturday to view and went home in it,sorry again"

bd... Do people not have any integrity or honour any more?

So I'm disappointed as well as pissed off and looking to PH for a response to go back to him with to at least make him feel guilty for going back on the agreement as I'm sure there is fk all else I can do.

I don't think you'll get one. The way these threads go is to say that no deal has been done until money has changed hands. Did you pay him a deposit?

I understand there's no deal, so wasn't asking him to give me the car, the question was more what name can I call him to make me feel better smile

(we agreed £10,500)

Money talks.

For every story like yours there are a hundred other about buyer who said I will buy your car at X price on Y day, and didn't.

I heard it put like this just a few days ago:

Which of these two sentences do you like better?

"I will give you £100 tomorrow"

or

"Here is £100"

looking for another car will be the best use of your time. Take it as a lesson learnt.

Im sure you will find another car soon enough, good luck with the search,

No matter how much you say you were going to buy the car he'd be spending the time from you saying yes til you came back to hand over the cash bricking it just incase you didn't come back.
This bloke has turned up and bought it, if you wanted it so much you would have left a deposit.

You can't blame someone for turning down a guaranteed sale if you didn't leave a deposit?

That's a fair point, seller didn't ask, I didn't think to offer!

If you were so serious, why didnt you leave a deposit? Even 50 quid via pay pal?

I dont see what you have to complain about tbh. Selling cars of value like that can be hard (as i found out a few weeks ago), and you get some many dreamers promising x,y and z!

When someone actually stumps up the cash in front of you with something near the offer, you take it. The seller did the right thing.

Im surprised he even bothered sending you an email to explain. Rather decent of him if you ask me.

I know what we're all thinking about you!

If you wanted the car that bad, you would have left him a deposit.

Walking away with a 'see you next week', is worth approximately fk-all to the guy who's waited in for the last hour to show you his car. He's not your mate; he doesn't know you from Adam, so he's got absolutely zero faith that you'll return.

All communication was done by email, if I had gone to see it it would be a different story about a deposit but I think that statement says more about him than me as I was a genuine buyer.

I'm getting the feeling there's been a lot of experiences from dishonourable people on here but you live and learn.

Does anybody know of a nice BMW 730d for sale?
