record low gas consumption with LS7
Discussion
Since I did a longer trip to Italy I thought I share my record low fuel consumption.
I could drive approx 60km german autobahn at 200kmH, the other 270km were mixed country roads including maloja and Julier pass and swiss highway
between 50 and 80mph. The car did 330km with 42 liters of gas (95 octane), which is around 13 liter/100km.
I went in closed loop at lambda 1.0.
I think that is quite an achievement that you can drive a +500hp car with 7,0 liter displacement and consume less fuel than
a Beetle did......amazing. I must admit that when I drive it around the house in power mode without closed loop I can easily get
it over 20 liters/100km.

WOW you must have a BIG house I could drive approx 60km german autobahn at 200kmH, the other 270km were mixed country roads including maloja and Julier pass and swiss highway

That is good going Uwe. Pity you didn't pass by this part of Swissyland as it would have been great to meet you and see your Ultima. Certainly will be another time. Perhaps I should come on up across the border to your part of the world and have a good chat. Indeed, my heart is tearing between a GTR or Can-Am. As I wuill be moving south of the Alps, the open top is very tempting, despite the comments of certain saying its a car for hairdressers...
i do not recommend the GTR, there are several reasons, biggest is the heat issue. In my opinion this car never be a replacement for a daily car, it is a toy and a toy can be used in sunny wheater, so no roof necessary ! We still got cooked quite well going up the passo Spluga, although 90 degrees was the hightest I say at 27 outside. My fans did not kick in the whole trip and they are set at 91 degrees.
ok just filled up the car after the trip, I last filled it up in Samolaco and that makes 360km to home. On the highway in germany I went around 190 and 200 and elsewhere as fast as possible including the Passo spluge from Chiavenna to Splügen.
I could get 45 liters in it. That is simply sensational. This car uses less fuel than my 911 turbo (ok that is 16 years old) and the R8 (which is using a very modern v8 engine with direct injection) and that with my own lambda target map and fuel and advance map.........so it looks like these old yank engines are not so bad after all !

I was given understand that most OEM maps are designed to cope with the widest variation of environmental conditions and as a result were not as efficient as perhaps they could be...I could get 45 liters in it.
