I've had so many things go missing in the mail recently its got beyond a joke

This started with things like tickets going missing - Wimbledon / Queens / FOS
Both the Wimbledon and Queens stolen tickets were sold on by London ticket agencies (found out when I turned up to the events with the duplicate tickets)

but now I've started noticing loads of other mail is just not turning up

I thought I might just be unlucky with my postman but talking to other friends its happening to loads of them

Yet when I call my local sorting office about this they basically told me they weren't interested
No wonder they are going bust

Quite. How does a jiffy bag with a sticky label complete with return address get lost exactly? "lost" my arse, stolen more like.

Not had much stuff going missing in ages

But then again that's because I've learned never to send anything more valuable than paper in the post. I sort out other arrangements for valuable items.

At least a couple of times per week a business letter of mine or two magically opens itself then seals itself closed with cellotape between being posted and arriving.

Funnily enough it's usually ones with multiple sheets inside that may feel like a wad of notes.

Coinsidence? I think not!

OT, but what happened - did you have to throw people out of your seats?

I send 100 / 120 Gliptone cleaners / conditioners a month (1st class standard) and they go missing a lot. It's got so bad that I won't sell these any more.
The dyes that go 1st class recorded always arrive. Go figure as they say.
I wonder if Royal mail vans have leather seats? (Kidding)

We have had a few things go missing, and a few letters which arrive half opened (I am guessing someone wanted a peek just to check..).

I've just been through this re. a lost parcel.

Normal efforts to engage with 'customer services' doesn't work with Royal Mail (or many others these days).

Sadly, their management and senior management responds to being shouted at. And if you get far enough up the line and shout loud enough your 'lost' mail will magically reappear. Unless it has been stolen, in which case you should certainly involve the police.

Except that you will have to go through an identical line climbing and shouting pantomime to get anything done there either. Sadly, THEIR service also magically improves the more senior the person you shout at.

And if you DON'T line climb and shout, NOTHING will get done. Nothing at all.

I worked with an ex Royal Mail HR man who had a few stories about this. The big one was someone who had filled his entire loft and spare room with mail over several years. However, not a single bit had been opened - apparently the person in question could not cope with his increased round but was too ashamed to tell anyone, hence started taking the stuff he couldn't deliver home. Bizarre.

Also plenty of "can't be arsed to deliver, I'll throw it in a ditch" tales

If it looks like it's got money / something of value in it....it's gone.

I'm sure the real figures are kept quiet but I'd wager it'd be in the £m's annually.

It's the reason the DVLA now uses blank envelopes, as do many other organisations.

We've had items never arrive, enquired about them and found that when the sender checks they turn out to have been signed for by an illegible squiggle, i.e. some thief at Mount Pleasant.
