These little things are getting cheaper and can be got for about £125 quit.

(I'm talking about GPS receivers for satnav kit that use GPS to talk to the setnav system.)

I'd like to mount one under the dash so it's hidden away and I can leave it in the car - a chim.

Has anyone tried this?

Since bluetooth doesn't need a line of sight to your device there is no reason you can't mount it anywhere...

BUT!

A GPS reciever does need a line of sight to the sky so that it can easily pick up the signal from the GPS satellites... so it might need to be dash mounted.

edited to make it make sense!

I tried putting mine under the dash in the centre consol of the Cerbera,
but found it impossible to read.

Hangs from the screen now.

Not the best shot, but the only one I have for now.

Indeed.

I think I will go test with my existing wired GPS receiver and see what happens. I think it will work through some obstructions but the dash top and the windscreen might be too much together.

Ah, I don't mean the PDA running the satnav software but the GPS receiver unit.

Sorry, I misread it - however, my receiver is not on the dash, you can just see
it under the dash by the steering wheel.

Works fine from there.

Ah, in the cubby hole under the radio. Looks promising for a unit behind the dash.
