Easiest/Most difficult car to shift at the moment ?

Nominations in the above categories, assuming reasonable pricing, im thinking,

Easiest : Diesel Fiesta at about four grand.

Hardest : 20 Grand Petrol Seven series BMW.

I'm told anything with a 2.0 litre petrol engine or above is generally "bad news" at the moment.

I've also heard horror stories of people trying to shift RX-8's.

Anything small and diesely seems easy to shift. Anything big and petroly is not. That seems the general rule. I had a look for another car to replace our 330i at the weekend. Two of the three dealers we visited would not have taken the BMW in part-ex. The third offered half of glasses guide price. I might as well keep it.

Easiest has to be a £1000 Mk1 MX5 in this weather.

Ive seen some RX8's for stupid cheap money so would agree with that.

Never had a problem getting rid of small diesels, had 3 Polo TDi as runabouts and each time got what I wanted for it.

Hardest to shift was an Audi TT 3.2 V6 coupe last year, had it new from Sept'07. Bought for £34k and was damned lucky to have got rid last June for £21k. Noticed the roof has caved in on values - WBAC was giving a valuation of £11k just last week

Good condition series 1 Disco TDi's, manual or auto. Around for about a day then sold often sight unseen. I know. I missed out on 3 this w/e.

A clean Series 1 Elise must be quite a good prospect. Still within reach of fairly normal enthusiasts, while affordable and economical enough to make a very strong case to those (or the wife of those ) downsizing from something more exotic...

As has pretty much everything else at that particular "dealer". Woeful adverts for mediocre examples of potentially ruinous cars - hardly a recipe for rapid stock turnover.

Did find myself wondering about an Alfa 156 V6 the other day. For the last bastion of 'that' engine they weren't exactly expensive before, but it costs more to fill one up for a couple of months than it does to buy one now.

Surely an A8 is also a pariah on the used market as well, this is good for me as I fancy an 540.

Thats said seeing that 850 made me wonder about the 840 and that I had forgotten how good they look (in the right colour with the right wheels), the words "Collossal", "German", "Money" and "Pit" also spring to mind.

We will be putting one up for sale in the next few days if you are interested PM me. Its a 300tdi 1994 on an M plate, bit of a high miler though at 245k. It needs a very small amount of welding but we are getting this done this week before putting up for sale. Just stripped the whole thing out at the weekend and cleaned it. Seats and carpets are currently out drying in the sun

I would agree with a 1k mx 5 or maybe any other cheap convertible being the easiest to get rid at the moment.
