there was an 'advert'. Do you call them adverts?, don't know. Anyway, was sponsored by the ****** safety camera partnership. Had the voice of a distraught woman talking about the loss of her young daughter who was hit by a car travelling at at least 43 MPH and killed (30MPH limit). The memorial for her is now the speed camera that stands at the location. So if you see one, remember they are there to save lives andthink of my daughter etc etc etc etc. Now I can't even begin to understand what this woman is going through at the loss of her child so I'm not even going to try. It's when I thought more about this that I got a little confused, and then quite angry. 30MPH isn't a safe speed to travel. The SCP's quote themselves that 50% of people are killed who are hit at that speed. However, the stopping distance is a lot less, so providing the girl stepped out far enough away you'd stop, vertainly stop quicker than if you were travelling at 43. BUT, everyone who travels pasts this camera is now looking at the speedo and not the f*****g road. Apologies, this is where I get a little angry. SO, for the time you are looking at your speed the death probability if you hit someone stays at 50%. THEN, the actually probability of hitting someone is a damn site more because you aren't going to take avoiding action either. I think that using the grief of 1 poor, poor woman to promote these sodding machines is nothing short of sick in the head. I might be wrong, probably am, but that's how I feel about it.

The scamera partnerships will use any form of emotional blackmail that they can to get their twisted message over. It all comes down to TOTC in the end -- the ultimate emotional blackmail. No children walking across motorways of course, but that's where the talivans make the most money so link them with children as well.

But let's face it, the world runs on emotion now. What stopped the burning of millions of cattle for foot and mouth? Not science, but a poor little calf that Blair personally intervened to "save". Just one example in hundreds. I want music and art to stir my emotions, but the country to be run by logic.
