Gas patio heaters - Information please
Discussion
Afternoon all!
I've been tasked by my parents to find a couple of patio heaters. The trouble is I know little about them, other than talking to the few people I know who have them. So I thought I'd open up to the good many people at PH.
Longevity is a must, so they don't mind paying a little more as long as the heater is good.
It also has to be able to be left outside over winter.
Which brands to look at? Which to avoid?
If there's anything else you think I need to consider, please let me know
Any advice or suggestions for be greatly received.
Many thanks in advance,
Darren

I replaced our gas patio heater last year and found that it was near impossible to buy one from a shop - compared to when I bought my first one in 2004 when they were everywhere.....Had to get one from ebay in the end. Seems the environmentalists have ruined that.
Guess that doesn't really help much, but thought I'd mention it

Got to agree with earlier poster, I'm not a tree hugger by a long way, but patio heaters have got to be the most useless and pointless energy wasters you can think of. At least a V8 sounds good.
Interestingly a few of our local pubs had them five years or so ago but don't use them, anymore. Asked one landlord earlier this year where the heaters were and he said he'd had so many complaints about their non-enviro credentials he'd thrown them down the tip. Apparantly a lot of the little kiddies from a local school had learned how bad they were for the "virament" too and he buckled under popular pressure.
Why don't you buy your Mum and Dad a blanket each? Or the modern version, a selk?
