A friend is having a significant birthday soon and was planning on a 4 day excursion to a Scottish Castle with flash hire cars and lots of eating/drinking in between but some party poopers have put an end to that so it's been narrowed down to a day/evening type affair and we are thinking boats on the Solent.

So it needs to be large enough to cater for perhaps 20 people to have a decent meal and a drink and to cruise around the local waterways and generally be very enjoyable.

So far we've got an idea of dinner on The Warrior in Portsmouth but they won't let us put to sea. smile

Over to you good folks for ideas/pointers/general advice.

Cheers biggrin

All, thanks a million, gives us plenty of options to review. Much appreciated.

Event is not til next August but I imagine these boats book up early so probably a year in advance is not too far off.

As you'll be seeing 'TENACIOUS' at the Tall Ships Sunday Service on 7th Aug, we could have a chat on the day about using her?

I've not written next years programme yet, but she's usually in the Southampton area in August.

I can vouch for Seafin, nice boat and have always been looked after onboard.

Bare Necessities is also a lovely boat and very different.

Lets do that - I know that she would absolutely love that!

What about offering a squirt around the solent in your 28? I guess you will struggle to cope the the number of guests?

Yes, 20 guests would sink the poor thing.

right...

SEAFIN is a good laugh for getting utterly sozzled.

RUM JUNGLE is pretty similar too http://www.rumjungle.co.uk/

if you want to go sail, then of course you have BARE NECESSITIES, but there is also BIG SPIRIT http://www.bigspiritadventures.com/ which operates out of Ocean Village and is owned by fellow pistonheader "speedyellow".

I know all of the boats very well, having either sold them, have them up for sale at the moment, or having got utterly pissed aboard them.
