stitching in rear windscreen coming out ,it seems to be quite deteriorated, any recomendations for restitching myself as all money went on buying her. I was going to use fine fishing line and slowly replace the lot. Cheers

I went to a shoe repair place and got some wax covered heavy duty thread. With patience and some pliers to shove the needle around, you can repair it by hand. I threaded the needle through the original holes in the plastic screen. Time consuming and you'll stab yourself a bit. Requires a considerable degree of patience if you want to make the repair job look okay.

Uncles an upholsterer & he gave me a quick lesson in how to do this, he said its how they have to finish things off.

If you get a large sewing machine needle you can use it like an awl. Use a needle on the other side to catch the stitches.

Keep lengths of waxed cotton on each side of material (generous double amount of stitching to be made), push awl thru the existing hole 1/2 way, pull back a little so the thread in the eye loops. With a normal needle on the thread at the other side catch this loop then pull out the awl and pull the stitch taught on both sides. Carry on like this until finished. Bring the ends of the outer thread to the inside to tie off so they are hidden.

Matching the thread colour is the hardest part.

Happy stitching (BTW I did all my velcro this way for practise - thru carpet & glue is a lot harder).

I took mine in to a Hood firm - they quoted £150 to re-stitch (on a machine, not by hand) or £180 complete with new plastic window - so, for the extra £30 I got the window done too and it transformed the car... not worth pissing around with needles IMHO (no offence to previous post intended) but I do know a bit about upholstery!
