The runaround Fiesta, 51 plate 1.25 Zetec SE.

At idle the car is running at 1k. A little over what it should be. Have checked for a sticky accelerator, but it's ok. Throttle Body itself snaps closed nicely and very briskly, doesn't look like there's anything wrong with the spring.

The questions are:

Do you know where the idle valve unit on the 51 Fiesta Zetec SE will be? Is it inside the TB once I take it off. Reason I ask is do you/should you change the TB gasket when removing/cleaning the TB that will need to come off if the idle valve unit is found inside it?

I suspect the problem might be that both the idle valve unit and TB butterfly valve both need a good clean. If so, what would you use? Brake cleaner/a degreaser?

And do you/should you change the TB gasket when removing/cleaning the TB? Same for the gasket that will be on the idle valve, where ever it is.

Cheers.

I'd also like to know the answer to this, after driving i.e sitting at junctions it idles at 1500ish. Obviously not right likewise no sticking throttle and TB snaps closed

Thanks for the link. Will give it a full read and see if it helps. An initial skim of if looks promising.
