Today, I got a £90 final notice as a result of an unpaid parking fine against a car I sold 20 days before the ticket was issued. I ring DVLA who say they have no record of change of owner, even though I sent the form in the days after I sold it. If the git that bought the car denies the date of sale, where do I stand - how do I prove the car wasn't mine at the time ?

did you send the log book by recorded or special delivery? its what i do ever since the dvla denied recieving a log book i sent them a few years ago.

they tried to say i hadnt sent a s.o.r.n doc into them in january for a car i had but i proved them wrong as i had the reciept and was able to give them the tracking number to check on the royal mail website.

DVLA/POST OFFICE are shite. We never received our log book - the DVLA put the wrong house number on the envelope. Essex is known for being bad on mail delivery. They have this huge drum at their depot in Boreham which eats letters.

Sorry you have had this problem - but lets hope we can all learn from what has happened. When I sell my car I will make sure I send the log book slip registered and keep a photocopy.

you aint just shatting tiffany cufflinks!!

i had some parts sent through the post for my car (wood dash, wood glovebox and airvent cover from a mk3 2000e cortina) that was addressed correctly and all the postage was paid YET it managed to end up at the dead letter office.after they found it the parcel was sent to the sorting office thats in southend.....where it sat for 5 days.in the end i phoned them up and got them to dig it out,i then collected it myself.

ive had lots of other post delayed for no reason over the last few years and its not getting any better....even though delaying the mail carries a sentence upto 25 years and the p.o is reporedly getting record profits.

also, anyone else noticed that the post office worker has become a wimp? they wouldnt even take a 20kg parcel as "it is too heavy for our postal workers, the max is 15kg"

bloody woosie's!
